A kid doing an internship in our shop has an Armstrong Heritage bari sax that says made by Keilworth on it. Does anyone here have any knowledge of the instrument? Is it a decent instrument worth a lot of fixing up?

Sally

Hi Sally,

I remember reading somewhere that the Armstrong Heritages were Coufs - Superba I or II - and were considered a pretty decent horn.

But even if it's junk, it might be worth it for an intern to tackle and learn on.

Good luck,
Michelle

Yes, that's kind of the plan. He's just a high school kid and has no experience or knowledge about repair though and it's in pretty bad shape. It has a low A and he claims it says Keilworth on the body. I'm concerned that it might be worth something and he might be more likely to make it worth nothing. ;-)

I think he wants to know what he's got since it's his now.

Thanks,
Sally

This is a very good bari. It is basically the same thing as a Couf/Keilwerth. Keilwerth made these labeled Armstrongs for a few years only.
