Anyone have an opinion on who makes a good pocket trumpet? Maybe that's an oxymoron. As tech I can only judge workmanship and as a sax player, I'm not going to discern much by playing it.

My brother is a trumpet player, has Bach Strads and such. He's toying with the idea that a pocket trumpet might be a good travel companion. Help maintain and embrochure without lugging around a regular horn.

Benge was always known for having a truly pro pocket trumpet. For a more moderate price, Jupiter has one that is probably at least decent. Some of the ebay fodder is pretty sad.

We've had the Jupiter pocket trumpets in our store from time to time, and they've always seemed good enough for what they are. Nothing spectacular, though.

We had a good trumpet player try the Jupiter, and while he thought it was cool, he said it played on par with a student trumpet. So, of course, he didn't like it.
