I think it's about time to buy a ring shrinking machine. I've never used one of the arbor press machines, just the big old hole in the bench machine. Is there any loss of function from the old style to the press? What about improvements? I assume it takes up way less space and can be stored on a shelf somewhere if space is at a premium.
I'd appreciate any input.
Thanks
Peter

As far as I know, Ferree and Allied offer the only ring presses. Either will require clearance on the bottom for dies and bells. I have only used my old screw type press, but I've heard that the arbor type requires less effort, but may be harder to control in fine increments. Due to space limitations, I just mount my press in the vice when I need to use it.
